Bible Re-cover Project

A friend, Ernie Banks, asked me to re-cover his Bible because it was falling apart. He requested hemp for the material. Here is my process! I'm really happy with the result, it was fun too. Hope it stays on! haha.

Home Interior Collection

For this project I made yarn out of old t-shirts, turtlenecks and sweatpants from goodwill. As you can see, I made:

 The Pillow

 Blanket and small rug
Lavender Sachet and Coasters!

Projects projects....

My first batch of reversible ties! One side is a hand-dyed fabric and the other side is a vintage floral that I used from a dress, and two pillowcases. Thanks to Eric for helping me with the wooden sleeves. More ties to come from k-tie-j! :)

I really just wanted to design and make some comfortable pants. I sketched out the design, made flats and bought swatches, then made a mock-up of the actual pants in cheaper material. They are comfy! I am proud of myself for making my own pattern.

Pie Crust Lunch Box

This is a "lunch box" I made for Studio Production class. I had to make something with the criteria of "EATING" and also use my personal ideals of what objects should look like or how they should be made. All of the exterior is leather, the interior is a linen fabric with a fusible vinyl over it so that it will be easier to clean. I wanted to make this lunch box easy to carry for professionals or students. The long strap that is removable hangs over a handbag's straps or the strap on the back can go over a long handled purse. In both cases the bag just "holds on" to your purse so you don't have another thing to carry.

Experimental Bookmaking

Books I made for bookmaking class. The first is a pop-up book of my childhood haircuts, I had a lot of fun with that one. The next two are just samples of a button-hole stitch and a coptic stitch, the second has details of local gators from a national geographic. The 3rd is a tunnel book that I used my photographs on, you look through the front and see the shapes go backwards, each with a different color and texture, this one was really cool. And the last is a book where I made a collage then cut it up to fit the "pages" of the book, on the back of each page is a thought that relates to the collage's meaning.

A lovely opal ring!

I realized that some of the people following my blog probably don't know yet that I am engaged! I have been really terrible about posting so tonight as I have a few minutes of down time...I'll fill you in about how Ben and I got engaged!

New Year's Day was our anniversary. Ben asked if I wanted my anniversary present and I of course said yes. He had made me this really awesome wooden box that has 3 parts, a top piece that pulls off the top, a middle piece that holds a key to the base and a little glass container that holds a special note:) and once you get into the base using the key, there is another sweet note and a ring box! We were at a friend's house for New Years celebrations and we were just off in another room. I was so surprised but I realized here we are around some of our closest friends, a very good time to share this special moment! The ring was his great great grandmother's and the history is a bit foggy of whether or not it was her engagement ring, but it has her initials in it. It has opals and small pearls and a thin gold band. I LOVE IT! I have always wanted something different and the opals are beautiful...and surprisingly it fits me perfectly! I guess it was meant to be. We are talking about a fall wedding because I will be done with my undergrad FINALLY in November yay! then we can get married and live happily ever after. :) well at least now Ben can move upstairs and not have to sleep in a stair well of his apartment because of the wood shop. haha. I think I will post pictures of inspiration ideas I find for the wedding, would people be interested?
